On a tiring day of work or sweat of mind
with my boss and client so different enough that day
I decided to take a deep breath and look back
inner to me had a scene so private
a vast cauvery with particles of equally vast sand
oh those particles might speak of my nature
the river where I had arguments,stories,fun,knowledge with my uncle
those premises of that big house I walked around
that terrace being kept busy with my exam preparations
the joyful days of school with surprise holidays
sweets and tiffin at the kitchen with my grandma's chalk writings
as she is going to the machinery for grinding grain wheat
the song of the Divine pouring the devotional melody
in the streets of agraharam as unjavirthi
with mamas and mamis very much engaged in orthodoxy
so much to eat as prasadam of course no calorie fear
mind and body so free of stress
also those vast world outside of that tiny sheath of agraharam
yes those village vendors and farmers I am thinking about
so frank at their talk and walk
their lives and smiles so simple
no conceal or no pressure of course they might fight
only with nature during rains or drains
way back I yearned from my heart
a typical only one day for the above scenes
to recur again once in my lifetime
with a vain hope I went last month
on my trip to India to my new house
flew on a visit to Jeeyapuram
same cauvery but the sands observed silence
the same village vendors but could not recognize
my same uncle yet could not take me to cauvery
the same terrace but dusted without my presence
my same house but with the new tenants
the same prasadam but my dietitian warns
those same bhajan songs but no time to sit and hear
oh my little mind I consoled my past
for the future is very fast
the taxi awaits you with eagerly driver
waiting to take you with your empty mind
bare at heart but it is cool inside the car
I departed seeing through the closed windows
the open terrace bidding a warm farewell
they say time and tide waits for none
so I sailed back to the Americas one more time
the rewind of time helped me this night
but oh my God save me from my client when the next sun shines
